NU sweeps through the ball game, wins Preseason Cup

National University conquered the FilOil EcoOil Preseason Cup with a 56-46 victory over the Far Eastern University on Saturday, August 27, 2022.

The FEU Tamaraws dominated the first half of the game putting the NU MBT in a tough spot.

​

The game took a turn midway through the fourth quarter, when John Figueroa triple pushed NU's lead to, 47-33, but FEU big man Patrick Tchuente led a rally to, 47-42, forcing the Bulldogs to call a timeout.

Jeff Napa coached the team and held on after a 9-4 closing run to defeat the Morayta team and become the newest FilOil kings.

Bruiser Germy Mahinay led NU with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and one block, while Omar John and John Lloyd Clemente added 12 and 10 points, respectively.

​

The Bulldogs won the championship with no losses, sweeping the elimination round with an 8-0 record defeating San Sebastian College-Recoletos in the quarterfinals and Adamson University in the semifinals.
